Agorism

I personally am sick of the government bullshit, the lies, the money passed between politicians and corporations. I’m sick of hearing about stories months after they occur and not being able to do anything about it. Government has grown out of control (particularly in the US, not as much so in Canada) and needs to be held accountable.

Second Realm and Bitcoin Summary

I have been digging into The Second Realm movement in the past few weeks compiling my notes on the various things I have found. Here are my impressions.

“The Second Realm” is a term used to describe a permanent autonomous zone that certain groups of Crypto-Anarchists, Anarcho-Capitalists, Agorists, hackers, etc. are trying to create. A place where full economic freedom can be achieved with no interaction with “The First Realm” (our current economy, government, corporations, etc.). They claim the reason is to circumvent the governments control over their everyday lives, to live and trade anonymously and build a better world free from the control of “The Man.”

I ♥ Deviantart.com

deviantart_teaser

If you are into art at all, this is the site for you. It is amazing how many spectacular artists are on this site. You can start from the homepage and view random popular works, but my favourite is to look at the daily deviations or search for a topic, find the one I like the best, look up the artist, then look at their favourites. If you do this, generally the favourites of an artist that you really like the style of will be packed with amazing similar pieces. This way you can find an artist or photographer that you really like and if you are lucky they have several hundred of their favourites for you to browse.

The Stupid Man

Why are men drawn to doing dumb (reckless, wild, crazy) things? And why are these primitive bahaviours attractive to females?

It relates back to the early days of man when we still had to do daring and adventurous things. Hunting with a spear or knife is incredibly dangerous, takes amazing amounts of stamina and athletic ability, intelligence and aggression. This example also works for warfare and fighting. Ever thought of walking onto a field and hitting another person with a sword who is also trying to hit you??

Paranoid Android

I love Radiohead and I stumbled across this video on FB today:

It’s a compilation of different artists performing Paranoid Android which is one of my favourite songs. It inspired me to finally look up the lyrics (funny how you can listen to a song hundreds of times and love it but not know all the words exactly). As I was reading the lyrics I was a bit confused and searched for some meaning (searched on Google haha).

Advice You Didn’t Ask For: Read The War of Art

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is an amazing book.

Have you ever felt like you just couldn’t get anything done? Like you were just floating from one distraction to another. Phone calls, emails back and forth, up and down. Don’t mistake movement for work. Just because you are running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off doesn’t mean you are truly making headway.

Have you ever left work feeling unfulfilled, looking for distractions (alcohol, drugs, self-dramatization, etc.) to trick your mind into thinking it’s alright?

Hack Windows Passwords Win7, XP, Vista, Server (no CD required)

Being in the IT world I occasionally have the need to get my way past a password for a workstation or whatnot, occasionally people forget their passwords, etc. For XP it was easy most of the time to just reboot, push F5 and load in safe mode. This would usually show the Administrator login and allow you to slip in behind the non password-protected master admin account. Then you could just reset the user’s password and login as them or do whatever you had to do through the administration account unnoticed.

Advice You Didn’t Ask For: Practical Applications of Meditation

My meditation bench

I am not a Buddhist monk but I know a little bit about meditation and I have a couple random tips that have helped me day to day. I know you didn’t ask but here they are anyways.

From a technical standpoint meditation is about controlling your thoughts rather than letting them control you. IE, you get mad, you hit someone. Meditation gives you the ability to see the anger and let it pass through you. That is over simplifying things, but my point is, if you are feeling depressed, it can help you identify patterns, it can help you stay calm, reduce stress and have more discipline. If you can consciously stop your mind from wandering and get into the habit of staying with your current train of thought you will be more productive and can stay in the ‘zone’ longer.
