On my iGoogle I have a little bookmarks application (called ‘Enhanced Bookmarks’) and on it I post videos that I have come across that are inspiring and motivational.  When I need a pick me up I will often watch them; actually for a while I was watching them right before starting work just to get me off on the right foot for the day.

SEO: Search Engine Optimization

I am the first to admit that I am not the best at this particular topic. I understand some basics for making a site friendlier to Google and mixing up keywords, but I am not at the level that some specialists are who can literally drive your ranking straight up to number one on the searches.

I have always believed that you need a good balanced mix of SEO techniques including real-world marketing to get organic traffic. And with organic traffic your site’s pagerank will rise with it. Varying and natural traffic is the key (organic traffic) to making lots of ad revenue and impressions, but targeted optimization is what keeps users coming back.

Interpersonal conflict makes you a dumbass

It takes a lot of energy to evolve and develop yourself.  Life is busy enough running around doing the things we need to do without having to do things that are unnecessary.

Super Singles Theory: The Millionaire Matchmaker Effect

I propose the definition of a new word.

Super Single [soo-per sing-guhl] -gles, noun
An individual incapable of having a serious relationship.
That girl has such bad luck with men, she must be a super single.

This term came about from studying relationships throughout the years.  I started to notice I had some friends who had no clue whether or not a boyfriend/girlfriend was going to work out.  Somehow I could always tell and so I started to formulate this theory.

TweetDeck is a social media aggregator (FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare)

Ever wanted all of your online activities in one place?  To view all at once??

Well, this quick post is to let everyone know about a cool application called TweetDeck.  www.tweetdeck.com

If you use FB, Twitter, LinkedIn and FourSquare then you need this application.  I think I would only use FB if I didn’t have this app because I loathe logging into the damned pages all the time.  With TweetDeck you can setup columns (on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch/Mac/PC) and even post right from it…  It integrates URL shortening and picture hosting as well, so you don’t have to waste your time fiddling around with photos you want to post.

Is Earth overpopulated?: IPAT and the Population Bomb

Some say “yes,” some say “no,” but in the end we need more facts than our insulated bubble might provide us.

You can view the world from what you passively hear each day.  Famine here, war there but nothing affects our daily routine.  I worry when this will catch up with us.

As a core nation we use 3/4 of the world’s resources.  We represent 15% of the worlds population (North America specifically) and yet we have such complete control over oil, coal, nuclear products, food, pulp/paper, cotton, labour.  Over the course of our development, we have fought and demanded, paid for and stolen resources to make ourselves more comfortable.  This is great for us, we get to go and buy .99 kids clothing down at Superstore but what is the cost of this to the world?

Fix annoying Outlook 2007 quirks

So I figured out a couple of cool tricks that I thought I would share to increase your speed working with Outlook 2007.  (Some tricks might work for 2003 but I did not test them so it’s at your own risk/disappointment)

1. Change Colour of Outlook

By default it is a blue colour.  Some like it, some don’t.  But you can change it to black / silver / blue if you would like and the entire Office Suite 2007 changes with it to match.  Kind of slick.

My Favourite Quotes: Make your own Bible

If you know me at all, you know I love quotes.  I use them all the time and throughout my life they have had significant impact on my attitudes, values and beliefs.  They are a great way to sum up a rule or thought in a simple elegant way helping you to remember the points.

I have stored my meaningful quotes in a simple text file for over 10 years and I got to thinking that it was almost a Bible for me.  It has sections and when I need some specific guidance there are sections that I like to read in different situations that cheer me up or keep me going.  (Keep in mind that I am not religious, it is just a comparison).
